Becoming the Bride

Of MESSIAH

14 New Testament Verses on Preparing to Become the Bride of Christ:

Matthew 3:3 (KJV)

 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias [Isaiah], saying,

The voice of one crying in the wilderness,

Prepare ye the way of the Lord,

  • make his paths straight.

[Matthew is quoting here Isaiah the prophet, Isaiah 40:3]

The main point here is that the bride is called to prepare herself. Why should the bride of Christ be any different than any worldly bride? Why would the bride of Christ not want to make herself beautiful in preparation for an eternal marriage with the king of heaven? And because she is married into a royal family, shouldn’t she be that much more concerned about learning the ways of the royal family? Shouldn’t she be concerned about those things that are acceptable by the royal family, and those things that are contemptible in the royal family? If a normal bride should concerned about these matters in an every day, humble family, how much more should a royal bride be concerned about these things when preparing for a royal wedding that is going to last for all of eternity?

When you become familiar with the Scriptures, you can see how seamlessly the Old Testament is tied to the New Testament:

“The New Testament is in the Old Testament concealed;

The Old Testament is in the New Testament revealed.”

In Short: The Bride of Christ is Ready and Eagerly Waiting. His Return is imminent. When we prepare ourselves for His Return— we show ourselves to be the ones He is coming to Redeem.

We prove this by our godly behavior, by keeping our lamps filled with heavenly oil, keeping them burning brightly right up until the end, when we hear the Voice of the Bride Groom Say:

Come to the Wedding! Everything is Prepared.

Isaiah 55:1-3 (KJV)

Ho, every one that thirsteth,

  • Come ye to the waters,

and he that hath no money;

  • come ye, buy, and eat;
  • yea, come, buy wine and milk
  • without money and without price.

Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread?
and your labour for that which satisfieth not?

Hearken diligently unto me,

  • and eat ye that which is good,
  • and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

Incline your ear, and come unto me:

  • hear, and your soul shall live;
  • and I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
  • even the sure mercies of David.

Lyrics
Your strength that found me at my weakestYour grace poured out at my despairWhen I feel lifeless, tired, burned out and defeatedYour perfect love will find me there
You called my name, and You made all things new
Oh, I was dead, but look at me nowI found revival in YouYou gave me life, ’cause that’s what You do
Oh, I was dead, but look at me nowI found revival in You
Wild dreams that breathed into existenceMy broken heart began to beatThere’s no more fear and doubt, my bitter disappointmentsBecame my greatest victory
Oh, when You called my name, and You made all things newOh, I was dead but look at me nowI found revival in YouYou gave me life, ’cause that’s what You doOh, I was dead, but look at me nowI found revival in You
It’s all because of You, all because of YouI am alive in Jesus, I am aliveIt’s all because of You, oh it’s all because of YouI am alive in Jesus, I am alive
Oh, You called my name, and You made all things newOh, I was dead but look at me nowI found revival in YouAnd You gave me life, ’cause that’s what You doOh, I was dead, but look at me nowI found revival in YouOh, I was dead, but look at me nowI found revival in You
