How does One Become
Unworthy of MESSIAH?

Part 2: From Matthew 10

Matthew 10:24-42 (KJV)

24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master,

and the servant as his lord.

  • If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub,
  • how much more shall they call them of his household?

Fear them not therefore:

  • For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed;
  • and hid, that shall not be known.
  • What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and
  • what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

And fear not them which kill the body,

  • but are not able to kill the soul:

But rather fear him

  • which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing?

  • and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
  • But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men,

  • him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

But whosoever shall deny me before men,

  • him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth:

  • I came not to send peace, but a sword.

For I am come to set a man at variance against his father,

  • and the daughter against her mother,
  • and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
  • And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.

He that loveth father or mother more than me

  • is not worthy of me:

and he that loveth son or daughter more than me

  • is not worthy of me.

And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me,

  • is not worthy of me.

He that findeth his life

  • shall lose it:

and he that loseth his life for my sake

  • shall find it.

40 He that receiveth you

  • receiveth me,

and he that receiveth me

  • receiveth him that sent me.

41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet

  • shall receive a prophet’s reward;

and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man

  • shall receive a righteous man’s reward.

42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple,

  • verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

As we can clearly see, Matthew 10 describes a number of different ways in which we can become unworthy of our Messiah.

The goal here is not to put ourselves down, not to become discouraged, or become disheartened, all of these contribute to the downfall of our relationship with Christ.

The key here is to see everything from God’s perspective. To ask for God’s wisdom, to receive God’s revelation. To grow in God’s likeness. To become a disciple, and eventually and evangelist, a teacher, a pastor, and enter into the full measure and stature of Christ, the Messiah.

There’s no way to water down the call, The message from our Messiah is:

“Be ye perfect, as your heavenly father is perfect.”
~Jesus the Messiah

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men,

  • him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

Below is a simple way, to share the message of the Messiah with those around you.
Simply by confessing the prophecies of Jesus from the Old Testament.

You introduce people to the Messiah, that was promised to come.

Doing so in Hebrew is called a “Mitzvah,” a “good deed.”

Both the old and New Testament strongly encourage us to do good deeds. In fact, there are rewards for doing good deeds. And God put no limit upon the amount of good deeds that you can do.

In other words, sharing the prophecies of God can bring you a prophets reward.

But of course, there is a greater Mitzvah, with a greater  reward.

He that receiveth you

  • receiveth me,

and he that receiveth me

  • receiveth him that sent me.

When the body of Christ, goes out into the world, sharing the simple truth about the kingdom of God, they change the very atmosphere, the very social order, the very spiritual foundations in the place that they go. Even though they confront the very gates of hell: they need not be afraid. They need not fear them that threaten to kill the body.

The truth be told, none of us have arrived. But that doesn’t give us an excuse for holding back, and for not pressing in, for not continually going forward, not continually making changes, and not continually keep confronting sin, and overcoming lies, and standing for the truth, and putting down idols, and generally doing the will of our Father who is in heaven. As long as we keep walking in the truth, we can have fellowship with one another in the kingdom of God, and our fellowship is with Christ.

But as soon as we begin living by the flesh. That’s when we enter into the gray zone. That’s when we can compromise the truth. That’s when we need to hear clearly the warnings of Christ, and of the apostles, to turn away from darkness, overcome our idolatry, repent of our greed and lust, and die to the old man.

The truth be told we need good teachers, good mentors, good leaders, heavenly examples, of what it looks like to follow Christ with all our heart, mind, soul, spirit, and strength.

We need to see heavenly generosity in action. We need to see the gospel message made alive in and around us. We need to see the fruits of the spirit of God, upfront and close in nature, in our parents and teachers, and our siblings and friends, and our leaders and disciples in the church.

And all that is our normal divine inheritance in a church that fully and truly puts God first.

When a church is truly committed to walking along the narrow way. It becomes like a branch truly connected to the vine. It becomes full of fruitfulness. Is truly desires to lay down its life for others. It will is truly be seeking first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. It will truly be operating as a light unto the world. It will truly be acting as a wise virgin, with her lamp full of heavenly oil. It will truly be walking as a wise Steward of her heavenly resources.

Today, People talk a lot about being a Christian. Or about the behavior, attitudes, or examples of Christians in general. They even name whole parts of History to blame on Christians:

  • Like: The Inquistion
  • The Crusades
  • The Salem Witch Trials
  • and worse.

Yet, the Bible only mentions the label “Christian(s)” three times. But doesn’t really describe what a christian is (except that a christian might suffer: See, 1 Peter 4:16.

The more descriptive Bible Term for a Believer is a Disciple. Jesus spoke to his disciples. Jesus train his disciples to speak the prophecies of God concerning the Messiah. Jesus encouraged his disciples to go into all the world, and preach the gospel, sharing the prophecies of God. Sharing the promises of God. Sharing the protections of God. And also sharing the persecutions that God promised would come to those who followed him.

Lyrics
For so long I carried the weight of my pastCripple by burdens like stones on my back
I thought I had fallen too far from your grace
But you came and showed me the way
When I was lost soul searchingYou were the ground beneath my feet
When I was blind man beggingYou were the eyes so I could see
When the smoke was rising upYou were the air that I could breathYou gave me hope you gave me something to believe
Now I’m alive and born againRescued from the grip of sinGod your love came crashing inAnd pulled me out of the fireI’m a survivor
Now all I can see are the fields of your graceWherever I run your leading the wayYou shook the shackles off my feetI found redemption on my kneesYou gave me hope you gave me something to believe
Now I’m alive and born againRescued from the grip of sinGod your love came crashing inAnd pulled me out of the fireI’m a survivorOh I’m a survivor
You’re my GodYou’re my fighterYou make me a survivor
Now I’m alive and born againRescued from the grip of sinGod your love came crashing inAnd pulled me out of the fireI’m a survivorOh I’m a survivorYou pulled me out of the fireI’m a survivor
