Revelation 14:10-11 (KJV) 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.]

. - Verse: Proverbs 19:9

Interpretation: God will destroy those who speak lies and abhors individuals characterized by bloodshed and deceit.
Key Point: God will destroy liars and abhors deceitful individuals.
. - Verse: Proverbs 10:18
Text: “He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.”
Key Point: This verse highlights the foolishness of hiding hatred behind lies.
Interpretation: Lying can be a sign of foolishness and hidden malicious intent.
. - Verse: Hosea 4:2
Text: “By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. [Hosea 4:2 (NASB) … “so that bloodshed follows bloodshed”]”
Interpretation: Who breaks out and what do they break out of? We are called by God to be conformed to the image of Christ, but we can easily break out of our conformity, by dodging our responsibility, accountability, and duty. This verse describes a society plagued by various sins. This world of sin begins with lying and swearing. This demonstrates that lying contributes to the downfall within a society. In other words, lying is one of the first steps—like a gateway drug, that lead to heavier narcotics later. Swearing and lying are two of the first signs that a society is becoming corrupt. That it is spiraling downward, headed towards the lake of fire, because it has rejected God, and God’s standards of honesty, humility, and truthfulness, which produce righteousness, peace, and joy, that are grounded in the kingdom of God. As a result, it no longer cares about God’s heavenly perspective. This suggests that lying is the precursor to stealing, killing, and adultery. In other words, you can’t have one before you have the other. The one lays the groundwork for next stage of evil, which will come.
Key Point: Lying can contribute to societal decay and destruction.
. - Verse: Proverbs 26:28
Text: “A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.”
Interpretation: This verse warns that lying tongues can cause harm and ruin to those affected by them. This is a huge and devastating blow to any relationship, family, community, or nation that at one time, honored and sought God as a part of its core identity. The truth be told: the curse here is not so much upon the naïve, trusting, openhearted individual, although, that is a curse in itself, on a naïve person, cannot discern the line, nature and character of another person.
Key Point: Liars literally despise and hate those that they lie to. Liars care not about harm and destruction they bring to others. Liars and flatterers actually grow to hate those they are able to manipulate.
. - Verse: John 8:44
Text: “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it [lying].”
Interpretation: Jesus describes the devil as the father of lies, emphasizing the spiritual origin of deceit and its opposition to truth. In other words, you can’t be a liar, without being joined at the hip with the father of lies. Those who see the connection between lying, and the source of all lies, being the devil himself, will rightfully and responsibly take an inventory of their own spiritual lives, and using wisdom, they will root out and cleanse themselves from every lie, every false witness, falsehood, demonic stronghold, and spiritual connection, that keeps an open door of communication between the believer and the enemy of God. The true believer will recognize the breach in covenant with God and will repent. That is what separates the wheat from the tears, the wise from the foolish virgins.
Key Point: Lying is associated with the devil and spiritual darkness.
These verses collectively portray liars as facing severe consequences, both in this life and the afterlife, and emphasize God’s detestation of deceit.
A spiritual exhortation:
Those who lie, lack this spiritual key: The Fear of the Lord.
That is a sign of their degradation before the Lord.
It is something that needs correction, discipline, and a deep thorough going repentance.
If a man or woman does not catch onto the fact that they’re saying is leading them to hell even little sins, according to some of lying and swearing, the chances are good that they will progress down the road of more and more darkness, evil, bondage, and death.
1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
The difference between the saint and the sinner is found in the conscience.
- One has chosen to put his conscience to sleep, to become dull, delusioned, lazy, and carnal.
- The other has chosen to put his conscience on high alert: to be diligent, aware, and responsible.
The first group has seared their conscience with a hot iron. In other words, their conscience has become calloused, and thick skinned, otherwise known as having a hardened heart. This group is in danger, because they have pulled away from seeking, knowing, and desiring the presence of God. And for good reason:
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
