How do I unhinge myself and my child from reality?

Simple. I depart from God’s testimony of reality.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NIV) 1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

Ultimately, men will choose to worship themselves and obey their own lasts and delusions, or they will choose to worship God and obey him.

Matthew 6:24 (HCSB) “No one can be a slave of two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot be slaves of God and of money.

What they focus on, that they will become. It is a spiritual principle that we become like that but we worship. What we behold in our heart, and in our mind, we will follow and become like it. And we will become slaves to the one we obey.

Romans 6:16 (NIV) 16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey —whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?

 

If you have a light to guide you, you can choose wisely which master to serve. But when you have no light to guide you, how will you ever discover who God fully created you to be in his kingdom?

22 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
