Our need to be Sharp:
What a Dull Blade can’t do
A Dull Blade can hinder Life:
- In Surgery: Difference = Life vs. Death
- In Tree Cutting: Difference = Success vs. Failure
- In School: Difference = Truth vs. Lies (Falsehood)
The need to be sharpened
- You need to be able to quickly cut away the foreskin of lies off the dirty penis of vanity.
- You need to quickly cut through ignorant worldly philosophies, aimed at destroying your family, legacy, and society.
- You need to be a Light in the Darkness, both in the church, and in the world in which we live.
The call to have a sharp sword
Psalms 37:12-15 (KJV)
12 The wicked plotteth against the just,
- and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
13 The Lord shall laugh at him:
- for he seeth that his day is coming.
14 The wicked have drawn out the sword,
- and have bent their bow,
- to cast down the poor and needy, and
- to slay such as be of upright conversation.
15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart,
and their bows shall be broken.
Good things happen to those who sharpen their sword:
Psalms 50:22-23 (KJV)
22 Now consider this, ye that forget God,
- lest I tear you in pieces,
- and there be none to deliver.
23 Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me:
- and to him that ordereth his conversation aright
- will I shew the salvation of God.
What happens when you have a dull sword?
- obstruct the eyes from seeing,
- deaden the heart from knowing,
- mute the tongue from speaking, and
- block the ears from hearing–The Truth of the Word of God.
- exposing their folly,
- Revealing their true source.
What are the benefits of having a sharpened sword?
Psalms 19:7-14 (KJV)The law of the LORD is perfect,
- converting the soul:
The Testimony of the LORD is sure,
- making wise the simple.
The Statutes of the LORD are right,
- rejoicing the heart:
The commandment of the LORD is pure,
- enlightening the eyes.
The Fear of the LORD is clean,
- enduring for ever:
The Judgments of the LORD are true
- and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold,
- yea, than much fine gold:
Sweeter also than honey
- and the honeycomb.
Moreover by them is thy servant warned:
- and in keeping of them there is great reward.
Who can understand his errors?
- cleanse thou me from secret faults.
Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins;
- let them not have dominion over me:
then shall I be upright,
- and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
Let the words of my mouth,
- and the meditation of my heart,
- be acceptable in thy sight,
O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
Our labor: To Keep our sword sharp, and our heart full of light.
Hebrews 4:11-16 (KJV)
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight:
but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in [our] time of need.
