God will Judge and Reward
Every Man
According to his Works

Revelation 20:12-15 (KJV)
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Please Note: Every time you see strong repetition in the Word of God, that is the Biblical Alarm shouting “PAY ATTENTION, THIS IS IMPORTANT. DO NOT MISS THIS POINT.” Repetition is a sign that the author is using a loud speaker, a bull horn to shout his message in amplification, so that the reader and audience of his message will not miss his most important point. Do you see clearly what is being repeated here?

Please note: How important it is for the believer to be “believing in,” pursuing, and doing Good Works today, that will be rewarded for all of eternity in the very near future.

 Mat 16:27

For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

 Eph 2:10

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto “good works”, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

 2Ti 3:17

That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

 Tit 1:16

They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

 Tit 3:8

This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

 Tit 3:14

And let ours [our people] also learn to maintain good works [referring to giving ] for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.

 1Ti 5:10

Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints’ feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

Two Types of Works

(These definitions are taken directly from the Word Study List of Verses, provided below.)

  1. Good works   (Eph 2:10)
    —Mighty works
    —Wonderful works
    —The Works of God
    —The Works of Christ
—Works of Repentance (works meet for repentance)
          —Works of Faith
          —Greater Works
    —The works of Abraham
    —alms deeds (helping the poor)
—Supporting Missionaries, Missions, Traveling Evangelists, etc.

  2. Evil Works   (John 7:7)
    —Works of the Flesh
—Works of the Law (in order to boast in self, in order to reject Christ, to forsake the Cross, and obedience to following Christ)
    —Works of the World
—works of the Pharisees and Sadducees
—works to be seen by men
—works of their own hands (making idols)
    —works of darkness
—Wicked Works (of the mind, and of the flesh)

The call to be sober minded

Titus 2:6-15 (KJV)
6 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. 7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, 8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

9 Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; 10 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. 15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

What Does Paul Condemn
about Works?

Please carefully note: From this Word Study below, you will clearly see that neither Jesus, nor Paul, nor any apostle ever condemns a man for doing Good Works. In fact, just the opposite, they exhort all men to be sober minded, doing good works, and even to be zealous to do good works, and diligent in doing good works. And No. That is not heresy, that is not legalism, that is the pure, clear, undeniable truthful teaching of the Word of God.

What Paul does condemn … is doing works of the Law, and trusting in them, rather than in Christ for Salvation.

This is particularly important in Romans and Galatians, and in part in Ephesians. Why? Because in that time of the writing, it was not illegal to be a Jew. The Jewish Faith was a protected religion under Roman Law. But Christianity was under severe persecution and in no way protected under Roman law. Therefore, there was a great temptation to return to Judaism (to escape persecution, tribulation, confiscation of house and property, escape prison, and torture, and the threat of death), by doing the works of the Law for salvation, and rejecting the Work of Christ for Salvation.

This was a kind of legalistic apostasy, that Paul needed to vehemently address. That no one can be saved by doing the works of the law of Moses, by becoming a Pharisee, or following the teachings of the Sadducees, or the Sanhedrin. In this case, it is like an isolated event that needed to be addressed firmly, but this does not extinguish the fact that Paul himself did “good works” and also commanded Timothy, Titus, and all followers of Christ, and all churches, to do the Good Works prepared for them to do from before the foundations of the world were laid.

Paul never taught any of these 6 false heresies

Please Note: Paul Never Ever Taught the heresies that teach against doing Good Works, as though a man would be trying to earn his salvation.:

  1. Easy Believe-ism (Faith that didn’t require full and complete repentance)
  2. Just Believe Only, Do Nothing Faith (Faith that did not require the doing of Good Works)
  3. —“It is ok to become a hearer only, and not a doer of the Word of God.”
  4. OSAS, once saved always saved, eternal security, without faith that produces full obedience to Christ
  5. —That becoming like Christ and obeying Christ was optional.
  6. —That God’s Love is unconditional, that a man will not be judged by his works.

(Note: These 6 false teachings are heresies that Modern Churches teach from their pulpits by those who do not follow or teach the Word of God truthfully or accurately. This puts them in the category of False Teachers, who are following a different Master, that no true believer or disciple of Christ should listen to or follow, but should rather rebuke, reprove, correct, and call them back to teaching the true doctrines of biblical faith, and following the One Master, Jesus Christ as Lord.)
